The Saint Louis County Department of Health is offering a FREE pertussis vaccination clinic on Monday, July 29th. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone be vaccinated against this disease, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE AROUND OR ARE CAREGIVERS FOR INFANTS.
Pertussis – sometimes called Whooping Cough – is a highly contagious disease caused by bacteria. It is known for causing uncontrollable, violent coughing that can make it hard to breathe. Although it most commonly affects infants and young children, anyone who has not been vaccinated can be a carrier and infect those who are vulnerable. The disease can be fatal, especially in babies less than one year old.
The FREE vaccination clinic is for those 11 years of age and older (children younger than 11 should see their pediatrician). Again, the CDC recommends that everyone be vaccinated against pertussis, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE AROUND OR ARE CAREGIVERS FOR INFANTS.
The date, time, and location for the FREE vaccination clinic is:
Monday, July 29th, 2013:
