Department of Human Services Administration Dr. Marilyn L. Robinson Director Dr. Marilyn L. Robinson initially began her career as a mental health professional providing therapeutic counseling for individuals, families, and groups. She then progressed to District Director at Provident Counseling where, in addition to counseling clients, she provided administrative and clinical supervision for staff at the South County and North County Centers. She later became Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Provident Counseling, Inc., one of the largest private mental health providers in the Midwest. In 1989, Dr. Robinson was selected to provide administrative and programmatic leadership for the YWCA of Metropolitan St. Louis as its Chief Executive Officer. She was appointed Director of the St. Louis County Department of Human Services in January 1998. She is also an adjunct professor in the Management Department of Webster University. Dr. Robinson is a member of the St. Louis County Housing Resources Commission; the Board of Directors of Peoples Health Centers, Inc.; the Commission on Disabilities; the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals; the Professional Cabinet of the Area Resources for Community Human Services (ARCHS); and the National Academy of Certified Social Workers. Robinson earned her B.A. degree in Social Welfare and M.S.W. degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas. She earned her Ed.D. degree in Human Services Administration at the University of Sarasota. She is a 1991 graduate of Leadership St. Louis; a 1992 fellow of the Washington University Executive Institute for Advanced Study; a 1993 graduate of Leadership America; and completed the Harvard University-John F. Kennedy School of Public Administration Executive Program in 1999. Dr. Robinson is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Workforce Development Professional. |
