Charges Issued on Man from Bellefontaine Neighbors for Assaulting St. Louis City Officer

On Friday, September 7, 2012, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Dominic M. Hamptiol, 26 years of age, of the 1100 block of St. Cyr in Bellefontaine Neighbors with 1st Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Armed Criminal Action and is currently being held on a $150,000 cash only bond. A photo of Hamptiol is attached and can be viewed online.

The St. Louis County Police Department responded to an Officer in need of aid in the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012. A St. Louis City Police Officer had confronted a subject at the intersection of Bellefontaine Road and Chain of Rocks Road who matched the description of an individual that was wanted in connection to an attempted robbery. The suspect fired several rounds from a handgun at the City Police Officer at which time the officer returned fire. The City Police Officer was struck one time and transported to Barnes Hospital where he was treated and released. The suspect fled on foot traveling north on Bellefontaine Road toward Fontaine Road.

St. Louis County Police Detectives from the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons responded to conduct the investigation. Detectives took the suspect into custody on Friday, September 7, 2012 and presented the case to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
