For Immediate Release

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued warrants Wednesday, January 30, 2013 on George J. Waiksnis, 40 years of age, of the 4600 block of Wizard Way, Washington, Missouri, 63090, for one count of Assault 1st on a Law Enforcement Officer, one count of Armed Criminal Action, one count of Interfering with Arrest, and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. A $100,000 cash only bond was set. A photo of Waiksnis is attached.

Charges were issued following an incident on Tuesday, January 29 after an officer from the St. Louis County Police Department West County Precinct attempted a traffic stop of a Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding on EB Hwy 44 at the Eureka City Limit. Waiksnis pulled his vehicle over, but as the officer attempted to exit his vehicle, three shots were fired out the suspect’s vehicle through the back windshield and toward the officer’s patrol car with at least one shot hitting the officer’s vehicle near the driver’s side door.

The suspect sped away from the traffic stop on EB Hwy 44 with the patrol vehicle in pursuit. The subject lost control of his vehicle and struck the center median approximately one mile west of Hwy 141 on EB Hwy 44. The subject refused to exit his vehicle for some time, but was eventually talked out of his vehicle by responding officers. Neither the officer, nor the subject, sustained injuries.
