On Tuesday, April 3, 2012, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued warrants on Eric Porter, Jr., 20 years of age, of the 2000 block of Vincennes Drive, St. Louis, MO, 63136, for one count of Assault On A Law Enforcement Officer in the Second Degree. Porter is currently being held on a $20,000 bond. A photo of Porter is attached. (The photo is from a January 2012 arrest.)

On Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at approximately 6:30 AM, officers from the Wellston Police Department responded to a call for a suspicious auto in front of the 6100 block of Minerva in the City of Wellston. Upon arrival, Wellston officers parked their vehicles on the street in the attempt to contain a vehicle occupied by the suspect at that location. Wellston officers requested the suspect to exit the vehicle however the suspect refused. The suspect put the vehicle in drive and attempted to drive away. During this attempt, he turned his vehicle into the path of a Wellston officer and accelerated the vehicle. Fearing for his life, the Wellston officer discharged one shot and struck the suspect. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where his condition was classified as stable. No officers were injured.

At the request of the City of Wellston Police Department, Detectives from our Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation which led to warrants be issued on the suspect.
