P.O. Craig Friemel Joins Academy Staff

Instructor Craig Friemel of the Chesterfield Police Department has joined the instructional staff of the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy effective June 4, 2012. P.O. Gary Robertson Joins the Academy Staff

P.O. Gary Robertson of the St. Louis County Police Department has been assigned to the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy as a staff instructor, effective May 27, 2012. Officer Robertson is replacing St. Louis County P.O. James Morgan who returned to the Division of Patrol after instructing at the Academy for three years. CMPA Receives CALEA Re-accreditation

The St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy has been re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc (CALEA) effective December 6, 2011. The CMPA remains the only police academy in the state of Missouri to have achieved this distinction. Read More...

CMPA Successfully Completes POST Audit

Program Manager Jeremy Spratt and Gayla Kempker of The Department of Public Safety's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Program conducted an on-site audit of the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy's Basic Recruit Training and Continuing Education programs for the reporting period 2009-2011. CMPA Passes CALEA On-Site Inspection

Class 175 Cheers Officer Crawley On as He Takes the Polar Bear Plunge

As part of their law enforcement education, CMPA recruits are required to participate in a variety of public service projects to forge bonds with their community. In keeping with that tradition, the recruits of CMPA Class #175 volunteered to assist the St. Louis Area Special Olympics in the 2011 edition of the Polar Bear Plunge held at Creve Coeur Lake on February 26, 2011. The recruits assisted with everything from event setup to registration and traffic control. The recruits were also challenged to participate financially by their class supervisor, PO Grant Crawley. Class 173 and Instructors Raise Funds for Backstoppers

CMPA Recruit Class #173 volunteered to help out the Heroes for Heroes fundraiser to benefit Backstoppers, the organization that helps the families of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. The event, hosted by CrossFit-TNT in St. Charles, consisted of a 5K run, weightlifting competition and CrossFit "Heroes" workout. The recruits manned the running course, lifted heavy things and generally helped make the event a success. Over 130 contestants participated in the event and over $3000 was raised for Backstoppers. On December 6, 2008, the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy was granted Accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Public Safety Training Academies.
