CMPA Instructor and Former Instructor Discuss Distracted Driving on St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis County Police Officers Don Jacquin and Karl Streckfuss were heard on St. Louis Public Radio's St. Louis On the Air program on June 13th. Jacquin, a St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy instructor and Streckfuss, a former instructor, joined Kim Schlau of Collinsville, Illinois, the Executive Director of the Jessica and Kelli Uhl Memorial Foundation in an almost hour-long interview with KWMU host Don Marsh. The subject was texting and cellphone use while operating a motor vehicle, and the high cost of this distracted driving. Academy Instructor Joins Other Officers in Special Olympics Torch Run

On May 29th, St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy instructor Don Jacquin joined dozens of other area law enforcement officers in running a leg of the Missouri Special Olympics Torch Run. Class 179 Does SFST and DUI Enforcement Training

On Friday May 17th the recruits of class #179 completed their Standardized Field Sobriety Training (SFST). The night included a DWI wet lab in which six volunteer drinkers were invited to the Academy and supplied with various amounts of alcohol. The recruits were given the task of performing field sobriety tests on each drinker to determine a) whether or not the subject was intoxicated, b) the approximate level of intoxication, and c) whether or not to arrest/not arrest the subject based on the results. The training was huge success with the recruits all stating that what they had learned in the classroom translated into realistic training for what it will be like on the road. Read More...

Class 178 Assists with Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

On Saturday, September 29, 2012, recruits from the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy assisted in a prescription drug take-back initiative organized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and St. Louis County Police Department. This initiative sought to secure prescription medication before it could become available for abuse or end up in our communities' water supply. The recruits assisted in the collection of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs so that they can be destroyed by the DEA.
