CMPA Successfully Completes POST Audit

Posted 2 years 271 days ago ago by News Editor

Program Manager Jeremy Spratt and Gayla Kempker of The Department of Public Safety's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Program conducted an on-site audit of the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy's Basic Recruit Training and Continuing Education programs for the reporting period 2009-2011. The audit took place on October 27th and 28th. The Academy was found to be in compliance with POST rules and procedures.

The POST auditors looked at the Academy records for the seven Recruit Basic classes that were run during that three-year reporting period as well as the almost 3000 Continuing Education training sessions presented during that time. In an exit interview with the staff, the auditors were complimentary regarding the thoroughness of the Academy's record keeping and the breadth of the programs offered. Only a few minor issues were noted and quickly addressed. The St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy therefore retains it's accreditation as a Missouri POST Licensed Training Center. By state statute, audits of academies occurs every three years.

The St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy is one of 18 training centers licensed by Missouri POST. It is the only training center in Missouri to also be accredited by CALEA, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
