The Hazardous Household Waste Collection Program

The Saint Louis County Department of Health, in order to better serve the residents of the county, is developing a network of permanent hazardous household waste drop-off locations. Once established, this network will operate year-round, making the process of dealing with accumulated hazardous household waste much more convenient for the individual resident. Until that network is in place, however, the Department of Health will continue to host annual hazardous household waste collection events in the spring and the fall, including these three events in the spring of 2010.

In 2009, the Hazardous Household Waste Program served 12,063 participants at its spring and fall collection events and brought in 1,291,402 pounds of hazardous household materials. It is hoped that by creating year-round hazardous household waste drop-off locations, even more residents will be able to take advantage of this program. Please check back for updates on our plans for permanent drop-off locations.
